Chocolate Matcha Almond Butter ‘Doughnuts’ {Paleo, Grain free, Gluten free}

Chocolate Match Almond Butter ‘Doughnuts’

If you haven’t noticed doughnuts are the new fad. They’re all over Instagram and they’re being made HEALTHY!! I’m loving this. I’ve never been a huge Krispy Kreme fan (crazy to some, I know, it just never was my sweet of choice), but I love cake, brownies, and anything chocolate.

Before we moved we discovered Juice Supply’s grainfree doughnuts in Dallas and fell in love. We haven’t found anything quite like them and now we don’t have easy access to them 😦 So what do you do when you just have to have them?! Make them yourself. My husband is the creative one. I’m the baker. So together we finally made one we really liked!

These are dense, rich, and oh so filling yet so delicious!! Β You can tweek them to your likely (i.e. omit match, omit almond butter, add your favorite toppings, add peanut butter).

I give you the FitandFreshSouthernbelle Chocolate Match Almond Butter ‘Doughnuts’: gluten free, grainfree, paleo, vegan, refined sugar free. Enjoy!!

Doughnut Recipe

What you’ll need:

-1 cup gluten free oat flour
-1/2 cup tapioca flour (I used Bob’s Red Mill)
-2 Tbsp organic cacao powder
-1/2 tsp baking powder
-1/4 tsp Himalayan pink salt
-1 tsp organic matcha
-1 Tbsp almond butter
-2 Tbsp unsweetened apple sauce
-2 Tbsp honey (I used Nature Nate’s)
-4 Tbsp unsweetened vanilla almond milk
-1 Tbsp unrefined, virgin coconut oil

What you’ll need to do:

1. Combine all dry ingredients in a large bowl.

2. Combine all wet ingredients in a small bowl.

3. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients. A fork works well. You can also combine with a mixer, but batter will be very thick and sticky.

4. Once well combined, form into doughnut shaped rings. Place on a baking stone or doughnut pan.

5. Bake at 350 for 12 minutes.

6. Remove and place on cooling rack for a couple of minutes.

7. Dip doughnuts in icing and top with desired toppings.
